About Me

My Story

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from Olympus High School before attending Westminster University. I completed my undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology, along with additional studies in Music and Political Science. Later, I returned to Westminster University to earn my Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, a CACREP accredited program (widely considered the "Gold Standard" in counselor education.) I am a Nationally Board Certified Counselor, and am a member of the Utah Chapter of The Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.

I believe that it requires a great deal of experience, in addition to knowledge, to be able to effectively help others. Therefore, I have worked diligently to attain skills similar to what one might find in a philosopher, a researcher, or a sage. I count my various experiences as a patient in therapy as indispensably valuable as well, especially in terms of understanding and appreciating the sense of vulnerability that comes with "sitting on the couch."

I live in the Millcreek area with my wife and our two energetic young boys. Outside of my work, I enjoy reading non-fiction, listening to educational podcasts, watching movies (of the independent variety), and playing classical guitar. I’m also an unapologetic fan of dark chocolate, and will always give you some if you ask. I value openness and authenticity in my work, so if there’s something you’d like to know about me, drop a line.

About Ridgedale Counseling.

Ridgedale Counseling was created to provide thoughtful, personalized therapy for individuals and families seeking clarity, healing, and growth. My work focuses on helping clients feel understood while developing practical tools they can use to navigate the challenges of life and mental health.

Clinical Experience and Approach

Children

and
Adolescent Therapy

My training began with a strong focus on children and adolescents, including clinical work at The Children’s Center and the Carmen B. Pingree Autism Center of Learning. I later received formal training in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and continue to expand my approach through additional child-focused methodologies. This foundation allows me to create developmentally appropriate, engaging, and effective therapy environments for children of varying ages and needs.

Clinical Approach

and
Methods

My therapeutic approach blends several evidence-based methods tailored to each client’s needs. I use psychodynamic therapy to build deeper self-awareness, alongside Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to address anxiety and depression. In working with couples, I incorporate Discernment Counseling and the Gottmann Method to help improve communication, resolve conflict, and strengthen relationships.

Families

and
Life Transitions

I frequently work with children and families navigating divorce, separation, and custody-related challenges. Because I was one of the only clinicians willing to take the most complex and challenging cases for many years when I worked at a busy group practice, I am now able to provide grounded experience in helping families survive, and thrive, amidst upheaval. My goal is to remain neutral and supportive to all parties involved, while helping ensure that the child’s voice is clearly understood during times of transition and stress. I will always advocate for your child.
